Year 10 Skills Program - 2019 - Making Timber Toys

YEAR 10 Skills Program - Making Timber Toys

Year 10 Students at Trades Norwest, as part of our Integrated Program working towards their Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways are participating in a range of project based learning activities. These activities including Carpentry, Plumbing, Electro Technology, Careers and the Duke of Edinburgh Award are developing core workplace skills such as teamwork, goal setting and planning and as well as general practical workshop skills in preparation for students undertaking a range of trades in 2020.

One of the projects that students are currently making in carpentry are Toy Trucks that will be donated to Anglicare. The construction of the toy trucks has involved students learning the safe use of a range of workshop tools and processes as well as reading and understanding of workshop drawings. The donation of the toys is part of the voluntary component of the Duke of Edinburgh award that students will be working towards including an overnight trek occurring in early term 4 this year.
