Trades Norwest has expanded our innovative senior studies program to include Year 10 students. The program for Year 10 will support students as they start to consider trades careers through our Trade Skills and Trade Taster program experiences that will help them to decide on the best trade career by the end of Term 4.
Students will not be eligible for a ROSA if they leave school before finishing Year 12, but at Trades Norwest we anticipate that all students will continue their studies to complete Year 12 so that they are best prepared to engage with the working world of the future.
The senior studies program is designed to meet the needs of young people for whom an academic exam-focussed learning environment is not appropriate. The Year 10 program will cover English, Science, Maths, HSIE (Human Society in its Environment) and a Fitness program. Year 10 will also study the Certificate II course FSK20113 Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways. This course is delivered by teachers at Trades Norwest and accredited through the Association of Independent Schools NSW (RTO ID 90413). Read more about FSK20113 Certificate II Skills for Work and Vocataional Pathways here.
The Year 10 classes will be small with an anticipated maximum class size of about 16 students. There will be two Year 10 class groups so early application is advised. Students may still enrol in Year 11 if that is preferred.
