Year 11 and Year 12 students work on a common program in a combined group with the program facilitator. The program is project-based and has a trades focus, with a new project each term over the 2 year period.
The subjects included in the program are chosen to meet skills that will be required in the fuure career world.  At the beginning of Year 11, if students do not have an apprenticeship, they will include Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation as part of their studies and this complements the Fitness program and the First Aid qualification that all students participate. Once students are signed up to an apprenticeship they will be enrolled in the subject Industry Based Learning which gives them HSC credit for their experiences at work.
All students will have the opportunity to work towards gaining Certificate II or Certificate III in Business Services by the end of Year 12.
With the Trades Norwest program of study students will qualify for an HSC, with no HSC examinations. All programs and learning projects are college developed and assessed.
Students who start an apprenticeship very late in Year 11 or at the beginning of Year 12 may need to follow our PATHWAYS PROGRAM in order to meet all the requirements for gaining the HSC and completing the first year of their apprenticeship.
